Submission Requirements for the National Assessment Governing Board
Thank you for your interest in serving on the National Assessment Governing Board. You were either nominated by a colleague or representative of an organization, are a self-nominee, or simply want to learn more about the process. Regardless of your path to nomination, the following materials are required:
Your personal statement should reflect your understanding of the educational landscape and the role of The Nation’s Report Card, or the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP); a description of the types of experiences that will inform your deliberations as a member of the Governing Board; and the reasons you are interested in serving. Your statement should convince your potential peers on the Governing Board of the distinct role and unique value that you can offer in helping the Governing Board set policy for NAEP. Your personal statement should be no more than one page, in a font size no smaller than 11, with margins of at least ½ inch. You may upload your document in Word or PDF, with PDF being preferred.
Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume:
Your CV or resume should highlight key activities that reflect the knowledge, skills, and experiences you will bring to your service on the Governing Board. Your CV or resume should not exceed six pages, in a font size 11 or larger, with margins of at least ½ inch. You may upload your document in Word or PDF, with PDF being preferred.
Letter(s) of Support:
You are required to submit one letter of support. You may submit up to two additional letters, for a total of three. There are no requirements about the role or title of the individuals you select to write letters on your behalf. For instance, if you are a teacher, you are not required to submit a letter from your principal or superintendent. You may elect to, of course, but it is not required. If you were nominated, it is preferred that one letter of support come from the individual who nominated you. It is recommended that each letter of support be limited to two pages in length. Letters may be uploaded in Word or PDF, with PDF being preferred.
All materials can be single- or double-spaced, depending on your preference and needs.
All nominations must be submitted online. You will upload the materials during the submission process, including your letter(s) of support. It is recommended you collect those letters in advance of initiating your submission; however, you will be allowed to edit your submission until the deadline of October 31, 2018, 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
