NAEP Grade 8 Academic Preparedness Research: Establishing a Statistical Relationship between the NAEP and EXPLORE® Grade 8 Assessments in Reading and Mathematics for North Carolina Students
ETS, 2016, GRADE 12
A statistical relationship study examining Reading and Mathematics assessment results for NAEP and EXPLORE® in the state of North Carolina, which helps to determine the extent to which 8th grade students are on track to be academically prepared at the end of high school.
This report is part of the investigation into the extent to which grade 8 students are on track for being academically prepared for college by the end of high school. Several states, including North Carolina, participated in the statistical linking research and provided data on students who were part of the NAEP grade 8 sample during the 2012-2013 school year. Some state partners have continued to provide longitudinal data as these students progress through high school and beyond, to be analyzed and reported in future reports. This report describes the NAEP and EXPLORE® assessments in Reading and Mathematics, discusses the linking methodology, and provides the results.
