Dear Colleague:

The National Assessment Governing Board seeks your assistance in identifying qualified individuals to serve as members of the Governing Board. The Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, will appoint the members from a list of finalists submitted by the Governing Board.

Congress established the Governing Board to set policy for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)-also known as The Nation's Report Card. The Board is seeking the very best nominees and broadest possible representation to recommend joining the Board and contributing to its mission.

For 2011, the Board is seeking nominations for seven positions in the following six categories:

  1. Testing & Measurement Expert
  2. Local School Superintendent
  3. 12th Grade Teacher
  4. Curriculum Specialist (2 openings)
  5. Chief State School Officer
  6. State School Board Member
